Privateers Hold Off Alcorn St.
On a ridiculously windy and chilly night on the Lakefront, the Privateers defeated Alcorn State 6-3. New Orleans (7-14) scored all six runs in the first two innings, then held off the Braves (3-23) the remainder of the game.
Sammy Capielano was officially credited with a 4-for-4 night offensively. Hez Randolph's hitting streak was stopped at 16 games. Hunter Medine started and pitched four innings, extending his streak to 18.2 innings pitched this season without allowing an earned run.
The win matches last year's season win total.
The Privateers and Braves wrap up the two game mid-week series tomorrow at Maestri Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Raymond Winter is expected to start after serving a four-game suspension following the Privateers win over Tulane.
