UNO Bottoms Out at UIW

Gerrale Gates had a double-double
It's been a rough season for the injury-riddled Privateers, but New Orleans took its worst setback yet on Saturday afternoon in San Antonio, falling to Southland cellar dweller Incarnate Word, 73-70.

UNO took the lead early but sloppy, foul-ridden play hurt them as the afternoon went along.  The Privateers (5-11, 1-5) did rally late, even taking a 70-69 lead on two Troy Green free throws before Incarnate Word's Keaston Willis answered with two free throws of his own to give UIW the winning margin.  It was the Cardinals' first win against a Division I opponent this year.

Leading scorer Bryson Robinson led the team with 17 points.  Green added 15, and Gerrale Gates registered a double-double with 13 points and 13 boards.

New Orleans will head home but then turn around and head back to Texas for a Wednesday contest at Houston Baptist.
