UNO Edges Commerce

Mason Jones
The Privateers got a vintage Jordan Johnson game to go along with strong efforts from Mason Jones and Turk Vincent to squeak past Texas A&M-Commerce 88-85 at Lakefront Arena on Monday afternoon.

Outrebounded badly by Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday, the Privateers (6-9, 1-1) responded with a huge 43-32 edge on the glass against these Lions, led by Vincent with 12 rebounds to go along with Jones' 7 and another 7 from Tyson Jackson.  UNO let a 13-point second half lead slip away late, but won the final 1:18 by a 7-3 margin to secure the tight win.

Johnson had 36 points to lead the way.  He drained 10-of-19 from the field and got to the charity stripe 16 times, making 14.  Vincent had 16 points as well to post a double-double, and Jones had 17.

UNO will complete its three-game homestand to start the season on Saturday against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
