New Orleans played well early and even opened up a 25-22 lead on the host Colonels, who came in riding their own five-game winning streak. Nicholls edged back ahead but took a tenuous 42-36 lead into the break. However, they immediately hit UNO with an 8-0 run right out of the locker room and never looked back, dominating the second half en route to an easy victory.
Damion Rosser led the Privateers, who shot just 38% as a team, with 16 points as well as 8 rebounds. Derek St. Hilaire hit 4-for-8 from beyond the arc and added 14 points. Troy Green also had 14. New Orleans shot just 43% from the free throw line and were also outrebounded 49-36.
UNO stays on the road next week for two more, first at Northwestern State on Wednesday night.
