2014-15 Privateers Basketball Schedule Released

The 2014-15 UNO Men's Basketball schedule was released this week. First the good news: the road slate features several high-profile opponents, and they are all potentially winnable games for this year's squad. That includes a December 22nd visit to famed Assembly Hall against the Big Ten's Indiana Hoosiers. The other road games against Power 5 league members are TCU of the Big 12 (Nov 21) and Texas A&M of the SEC (Nov 28.) The Privateers will also travel to take on three mid-major opponents, Denver (Nov 30) San Diego (Dec 13) and Southern Illinois (Dec 19.)

Coach Sless will return home to Bloomington when his
Privateers travel to Assembly Hall to take on Indiana.
The schedule also features some bad news, and that would be the home slate. The Privateers will host three games in non-conference play, none against Division I opposition. Thankfully we don't play Champion Baptist again this year, unfortunately they have been replaced by a team that lost to Champion Baptist last season. Yikes.

The all-important Southland schedule is also a mixed bag for Privateers fans. Unfortunately the league's best team, Stephen F. Austin, does not visit the Lakefront this year. However, we will get to see Sam Houston State (Jan 10), Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Jan 24) and Northwestern St (Feb 21.) Also, Tic Price will make his return to Lakefront Arena as UNO opens Southland play hosting Lamar on January 5th.

The road SLC schedule is also a positive overall for Privateers fans hoping to travel with the team. The game at SFA unfortunately falls on a Monday (Jan 19) however several drivable road games fall on Saturdays. Those include Houston Baptist in legendary Sharp Gym (Jan 17) McNeese (Jan 31) Central Arkansas (Feb 7) and Northwestern St (Mar 7.) The road games at Nicholls (Feb 2) and Southeastern (Feb 23) are both on a Monday, but are close enough for many fans to make anyway.

Finally, the season concludes with the Privateers first ever appearance in the Southland Conference Tournament (March 11-14 in Katy, Texas.) For the first time since the 2009-10 season, the Privateers will be competing for a bid into the NCAA Basketball Tournament. Make plans now to be in Katy supporting Coach Sless and the Privateers.
