UNO Gets Loss, Paycheck in Evanston

The Privateers (2-3) took a beating in their guarantee game at Northwestern of the Big 10, falling 90-63 on Saturday evening. New Orleans was overwhelmed by the Wildcats' size and shooting touch, and in a first half reminiscent of the one UNO played at Duquesne earlier in the season, they trailed 48-25 at the break.

Nate Frye led the Bucs with 14 points, and freshman Cameron Reed added 13.

UNO will next take on Tulane in another ESPN3 appearance on Wednesday Night at not-Fogelman Gym.

Privateers Play in Peoria, Win

For the second straight season, New Orleans defeated a Missouri Valley Conference opponent on the road, downing Bradley in Peoria 64-51. The Privateers were in control early and held a steady lead throughout the game, as the Braves got no closer than five points early in the second half.

Last season, the Privateers bested the MVC's Southern Illinois Salukis.

Christavious Gill and Nate Frye had 13 each for UNO. New Orleans won despite shooting just 38% from the field and 56% from the line, largely due to holding the Braves to an anemic 32% and 11% from three-point range.

The Privateers will stay in the midwest and take on Northwestern out of the Big 10 on Saturday night.

Privateers Coast in Home Opener

In the latest of too many matchups against Pensacola Christian College, the Privateers jumped out to a 26-9 lead over the non-Division I opponent and never looked back, cruising to an easy 94-57 win in Thursday night's home opener at Lakefront Arena.

Newcomers Erik Thomas and Cameron Reed led New Orleans in scoring. Each had 17. Veteran Nate Frye added 16.

UNO next faces Bradley in a road contest televised next Wednesday on ESPN3.

Big First Half Lifts Duquesne

The Dukes of Duquesne used a big first half to run away from the Privateers en route to a 95-75 victory on Monday night in Pittsburgh.

Duquesne jumped out to a 54-27 halftime lead, and though they lost the second half, coasted to a comfortable win. New Orleans was paced by sophomore Michael Zeno with a breakout 23-point performance. Christavious Gill added 17.

UNO opens its home schedule at Lakefront Arena on Thursday night against Pensacola Christian College.

UNO Opens With Loss at Bowling Green

The Privateers fell behind 14-2 early and could never catch back up. Although they got back into the game later in the first half, they were blitzed in the second, falling behind by as many as 24 and eventually falling by a 79-61 count.

Junior Christavious Gill led New Orleans with 21 points, and Kevin Hill paced the Bucs with 13 rebounds.

UNO will quickly turn around and travel to Duquesne of the Atlantic 10 for a Monday night road game.
