UNO Powers Past Lamar Late

Kevin Hill had a double-double
The Privateers (5-7, 1-0) made a statement in the opening game of their Southland Conference slate, surging past Lamar in the final minute at the Montagne Center to notch a 68-64 win.

New Orleans led by as many as 12 on two different occasions in the second half, but the host Cardinals rallied to tie the score at 64 before Kevin Hill's basket in traffic put UNO back up for good with under a minute left. Cameron Reed's two free throws with under a second left clinched the victory.

Hill had a huge night for the Bucs with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Christavious Gill, shut out in the first half, made several timely plays in the second, with three three-pointers and a steal/layup for 11 in the second half.

UNO travels to Sam Houston on Saturday before their conference home opener a week from tonight at Lakefront Arena.
