Privateers Win SLC Tournament Opener

bomb for the Privateers

In Hammond for the first phase of the two-weekend-long Southland baseball tournament, the Privateers (29-21) blasted Houston Baptist 10-3 in the opening round on Thursday afternoon.

Miguel Useche had a grand slam to give New Orleans the lead in the third inning, and Amani Larry blasted a three-run homer in the eighth for insurance.  Kasten Furr led the lineup with four hits.

Starting pitcher Tyler LeBlanc tossed seven solid innings for the win, allowing three runs and six hits over seven innings.

UNO will next face the winner of tonight's game, which pits host Southeastern Louisiana against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.  That game will take place at 6 p.m. on Friday on ESPN+.
