Nicholls upends UNO

In a game that featured an absurd 104 total free throw attempts, the Privateers fell at Nicholls in their first ever Southland Conference basketball game by a score of 88-83. Cory Dixon led New Orleans with 21 points in the foul-plagued league opener, and Jeremy Smith paced the Colonels with 17.

Earlier in the evening, the UNO women fell 89-40 to Nicholls.

UNO returns to action on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. in Lake Charles, when they will take on the McNeese State Cowboys. MSU defeated Southeastern Louisiana 69-60 in their SLC opener.
