Giavotella and Butler both back in Majors

What a Friday for Privateers Baseball alumni! Both Johnny Giavotella and Joey Butler are back on active Major League Baseball rosters.

The St. Louis Cardinals have purchased Butler's contract from Triple A Memphis. Joey was completely destroying Pacific Coast League pitching this season with an absurd OPS of 1.028. His on base percentage was .481. He homered four times and drove in 20 runs. He also walked (19 times) more than he struck out (16.) This will be Joey's first regular season action for the Cardinals. He appeared in eight games for Texas late in the 2013 season.

The Kansas City Royals have also re-called Johnny Giavotella from Triple A Omaha. This will be Gio's second appearance in KC this season. He appeared in one game earlier this season as a fill-in for frequently banged up starting second baseman Omar Infante. In Omaha, Gio had an OPS just under .900 with a homer and nine doubles. He's also walked (9 times) more than he's struck out (6.) In his one MLB appearance this year, Johnny went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
